Before I left Tucson on a kind-of-sudden three-week trip to Mexico, I didn't pre-post enough murals to last the whole trip. I hope I can post some from the plane, or the airport, in time for the morning of February 9th — or soon after.
In the meantime, here are a few mural photos from the city I'm in: Oaxaca. If you've only been to Mexican border cities, Oaxaca would be a great start to see a really beaufitul place with lots of cultures, amazing food, art… and lots of murals! Here are some. I'll add a caption above some photos:
Where pigs fly…
…and children are happy:
These people are dressed for an Oaxacan celebration. The costumes at right are especially typical:
Lucha libre is a national sport… kind of like “championship wrestling” in the US, but with even more exaggerated silliness and self-promotion. I think it might be taking the place of bullfighting:
The sign at left says “You can fly too!”

Kidz-Zona Child Care
The front of the building actually calls this an early childhood learning center, not child care. Here's the view from the east (left) end:
On the west side of the building:

Vinyl murals on old Chicago Music Store
The former Chicago Music Store building on Congress (the store moved to 6th Avenue) has murals printed on vinyl in some of its windows. That's thanks to the Storefront Vinyl Program from Downtown Tucson Partnership and Rio Nuevo. There's more info on the DTP website: https://downtowntucson.org/about/what-we-do/dtp-programs/storefront-vinyl-program.

Art Crew Attacks!
As you've seen in previous posts, South Tucson has a lot of murals! Some of them are in out-of-the-way places. This one is. It's on the east side of Major League Painting — basically the southwest corner of 6th Avenue and 30th Street. There's a map at the end of this post that shows the exact wall.
Here's the mural in sections, left (south) to right (north):
Below is a map showing where the wall is. As always, you can click for a slideshow of larger views — this map and the photos: I was there during my South Tucson mural marathon, around the corner of 6th Avenue and 29th Street, on September 17, 2024.

T&T Market, part 3 of 3: north wall
This is the third and last post about the former supermarket. The previous post was T&T Market, part 2 of 3: east wall. Today we'll look at the north wall.
The whole wall and a bit of the front (at left): Three closer photos from left (east) to right (west):

T&T Market, part 2 of 3: east wall
Last time, we saw the south side of this former supermarket along 31st Street in T&T Market, part 1 of 3: south wall. Today it's the east side. Here's the whole front:

T&T Market, part 1 of 3: south wall
SES, also known as Monty Esposito, has done a lot of painting (with help, I'm sure!) in the couple of blocks southwest of the corner of 6th Avenue and 30th Street in South Tucson.
This week we'll look at the long-closed T&T Market, which has been brightened up with murals along three of its sides. Today, the south wall along 31st Street. Google Maps Street View shows a blank white wall along here in April, 2022. So the wall was painted sometime after that.
I couldn't catch the entire wall at once. I'll start at the west (left) end, which is near an alley, and work my way east to the corner of 6th Avenue.

Painted on Major League Painting
A mural on a painting shop, Major League Painting in South Tucson:
Unfortunately, people have written on the white areas of the lettering and at the bottom right:
I guess that's better than trashing the mural itself!

Casa de Bernie Sedley revisited
December 28, 2011, we showed a small mural on a big building in Casa de Bernie Sedley. Pima County Public Library's website has a page Casa de Bernie Sedley - Name Origin with a bit of info and a photo of the building. When I was there again on September 17, 2024, a sign at the parking lot says the building houses the City of South Tucson Housing Authority.
That little mural still seems to be missing one tile at the top left corner. Here it is on September 17, 2024: For some reason, in our 2011 blog post we didn't show the big tile mural in front of the building: The left and right sides aren't straight. To show that, I've enlarged the ends of the original photos and replaced the background with grey:
There are lots more murals in this visit to Mural Heaven — South Tucson, that is. More next time.
