Five faces on Ferro

The area on the north edge of downtown along 6th Street, in the couple of blocks between Stone Svenue and 6th Avenue, is getting crowded with big murals. There's Joe Pagac's mural on the south wall of Epic Rides. Across the street is Rock “Cyfi” Martinez’ mural on the wall of Benjamin Supply. Now Sean John Cannon has a mural on the east side of Ferro Avenue at the corner of 6th Street:
Thanks to Kevin Blow who sent that photo from his home in England. (He snapped photos of several murals while visiting Tucson. We'll see more of his photos later.) Much appreciated, Kevin!

He has a great camera, much better than my phone. So I used Kevin's photo instead of the one I took on December 16, 2023. I also took photos from both ends:

Sean's signature is at the top right corner of the mural:
Another artist who used repeated images was Andy Warhol. You've likely seen one of his most famous, of Marilyn Monroe. Here's a DuckDuckGo image search (DDG emphasizes privacy): Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe.

Update (December 17, 2021): The muralist wrote on his Instagram @seanjohncannon (you can click there to see the post; you currently don't need an account):

My art mentor is Andy Warhol and his process involved silk screening multiple layers. My application is a lot different as I do everything by hand to create the illusion of silk screening. paint, markers, and a wet sponge is all I need but it is incredibly painstaking! I’ve always been fascinated with repetition and if done correctly, the viewers eye will always be drawn in towards it. I see Pop Art as being timeless as it never becomes “outdated” as aestheticism and whimsical coloring defines its genre. I love how it never takes itself too seriously and so far it has always perfectly reflected the zeitgeist of our times.

This mural is on the south wall of the office of Chris Mooney and Britta Van Vranken.

The artist was Sean John Cannon:

Tribute to Randy Clamons

Randy Clamons passed away on June 4, 2019.  He was the de facto leader of the local band "Top Dead Center".  The mural is by Sean John Cannon.  It was found at "The Hut", 305 N. 4th Ave.  The reference on the mural to the "Mike & Randy's 420 Show" is slang for smoking marijuana at 4:20 p.m. and also refers to marijuana celebrations that take place annually on April 20.

Photographed on April 14, 2020.

Update from Jerry: David and I were both prowling 4th Avenue at the start of April, taking advantage of the eerily empty street during the COVID-19 pandemic. If you've been to The Hut, you know that in front they have a tall moai sculpture of former miniature-golf fame. Right around the start of April, someone wrapped a mask around its face. I couldn't resist adding a photo here that I took on April 12th:
